The investigation into the death of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza has taken a new turn after his family’s lawyer, Jibran Nasir, made serious allegations about the circumstances surrounding his final hours.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Mir Raza’s parents, Nasir claimed that the businessman may have been abducted and subjected to torture for around 12 hours before he was killed. He said information gathered during the investigation raised questions about the official timeline of events.
According to Nasir, CCTV footage showing Mir Raza was recovered on July 28, while his body was found the following day. He also referred to a chemical analysis report from the University of Karachi, which allegedly detected acid on the victim’s clothing.
The lawyer further claimed that the condition of Mir Raza’s face may have been linked to acid rather than simply decomposition. He also alleged that the victim may have been given a local anesthetic or another substance that caused him to lose consciousness.
Nasir said the estimated time since death indicated that Mir Raza may have been dead for approximately 20 to 22 hours when his body was recovered. Based on this timeline, he argued that the businessman could have remained in captivity for around 12 hours before his death.
The lawyer also raised concerns about Mir Raza’s mobile phone, smartwatch, digital video recorder and financial records. He alleged that someone accessed the victim’s phone and emptied a cryptocurrency account, potentially creating an impression that Mir Raza was facing financial difficulties.
However, the allegations have not been independently established and remain part of the ongoing investigation. Police are expected to examine CCTV footage, forensic reports, digital evidence and financial transactions to determine what happened during Mir Raza’s final hours.
The case continues to attract significant attention as Mir Raza’s family seeks answers regarding his death and demands a thorough investigation into all aspects of the case.
