Oman Foreign Minister Arrives in Pakistan for Bilateral Talks on Trade and Investment

Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Pakistan and Oman. The visit includes high-level discussions on economic, diplomatic and security matters, with both countries seeking to identify new opportunities for collaboration.
Albusaidi will lead the Omani delegation at the eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC). According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, senior officials from the Economic Affairs Division and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the visiting minister at Islamabad airport. The JMC session is expected to review existing bilateral cooperation and discuss measures to advance the partnership.
During the visit, Albusaidi will hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The two ministers will jointly chair the JMC session, providing an opportunity to assess progress in current areas of cooperation and explore further collaboration. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to meet the Omani foreign minister during his stay in the federal capital.
The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, industry, agriculture, finance, oil and gas, labour, consular affairs, security and defence. Climate change, civil aviation, education, media and culture are also included in the expected agenda. These areas reflect the scope of economic and institutional engagement that both countries are seeking to develop.
Pakistan and Oman maintain longstanding relations supported by shared religious, cultural and historical connections. Both countries have pursued closer economic and diplomatic engagement through official visits, bilateral discussions and institutional mechanisms such as the Joint Ministerial Commission.
The latest visit is expected to provide an opportunity for both governments to explore mutually beneficial initiatives, particularly in trade, investment, energy and other areas of common interest. The meetings may also contribute to discussions on regional and international issues, as Pakistan and Oman continue efforts to strengthen their diplomatic partnership.
