Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent storming of the Al Aqsa Mosque compound, calling the act a serious violation of international law and an attack on the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan described the raising of the Israeli flag within the mosque’s courtyard as “reprehensible” and a provocative escalation that could further destabilise the region.
According to reports, illegal Israeli settlers entered the compound through the Mughrabi Gate under heavy police protection. Videos circulating online showed individuals performing religious rituals inside the mosque premises, while images revealed the Israeli flag being raised with the Dome of the Rock visible in the background.
Pakistan emphasised that such actions violate international law and undermine the sanctity and inviolability of religious sites. The Foreign Office urged the global community to take immediate steps to protect holy places under occupation and to hold those responsible accountable.
Reaffirming its long-standing stance, Pakistan reiterated its full support for the Palestinian people and their right to freely practice their religion. The country also called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The statement further warned that continued provocations at sensitive religious sites could escalate tensions across the Middle East and undermine ongoing peace efforts.
This development comes amid growing concerns over repeated incidents at the Al Aqsa compound, which remains a focal point of religious and political tensions in the region.
