Government Slashes Petrol and Diesel Prices, Providing Major Relief to Consumers

The federal government has announced a substantial reduction in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, offering significant relief to consumers, transporters, and businesses across Pakistan.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs74.28 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs299.50 per litre. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been lowered by Rs67.31 per litre, with the new rate set at Rs311.47 per litre.

The revised petroleum prices will come into effect from midnight, allowing motorists and commercial transport operators to benefit immediately from the reduction.

The government stated that the price cut is intended to ease the financial burden on consumers and help reduce transportation costs, which directly affect the prices of goods and services. Lower fuel prices are expected to provide relief to households, businesses, and industries that rely heavily on petroleum products for daily operations.

Economic analysts believe that the reduction in petrol and diesel prices could contribute to easing inflationary pressures by lowering logistics and transportation expenses. Sectors such as public transport, agriculture, manufacturing, and freight services are expected to benefit from the revised fuel rates.

The latest announcement comes as the government continues to review petroleum prices periodically based on international oil market trends and other economic factors. Consumers across the country are expected to experience immediate savings at fuel stations following the implementation of the new prices.

The reduction in fuel prices is being welcomed by motorists and businesses alike, who hope the lower transportation costs will eventually translate into reduced prices for essential goods and services in the coming weeks.
