Pakistan has reaffirmed its longstanding position on the Middle East crisis, stating that sustainable peace in the region cannot be achieved without resolving the Palestine issue. During a session of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Asim Iftikhar Ahmad highlighted that the unresolved Palestinian question remains the core driver of instability across the Middle East.
Addressing the international forum, the envoy stressed that the continued occupation of Palestinian territories and the absence of a political settlement are major obstacles to peace. He emphasized that a viable two-state solution remains the only realistic pathway toward achieving a just, lasting, and durable resolution to the conflict.
Pakistan also expressed deep concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, where ongoing violence has reportedly resulted in significant civilian casualties despite ceasefire efforts. The country called for immediate progress on the next phase of the Gaza peace framework to prevent further escalation.
In addition, Pakistan raised alarms over rising tensions in the West Bank, citing increasing settlement expansion and incidents of settler violence as serious threats to regional stability. These developments, according to the envoy, are undermining any meaningful progress toward peace.
The statement also addressed repeated incursions into religious sites, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque, urging an immediate halt to such actions. Pakistan warned that these incidents risk intensifying both political and religious tensions in the already volatile region.
Furthermore, Pakistan referred to the broader regional impact, including civilian casualties in Lebanon linked to ongoing military operations, highlighting how the conflict continues to destabilize neighboring areas.
Reiterating its commitment, Pakistan pledged continued diplomatic support for Palestinian statehood and emphasized solidarity with the Palestinian people. The country called on the global community to take meaningful steps toward a comprehensive solution that ensures peace, justice, and long-term stability in the Middle East.
