A violent clash in Pasni’s Machin Kapar area has left two workers dead and five others injured following a confrontation with the Pakistan Coast Guards. The incident occurred in the Kuntani area near the Pak-Iran border, where tensions have been escalating in recent days.
According to local sources, the situation deteriorated when Coast Guards personnel attempted to establish a permanent check post in the area. Workers, many of whom were linked to cross-border oil trade activities involving Iran, reportedly tried to resume their operations despite restrictions imposed earlier.
The confrontation initially began as a verbal dispute but soon turned violent, with reports of firing during the clash. The violence resulted in the deaths of two workers and injuries to five others.
The incident comes shortly after a separate attack in the same region, where unidentified armed men targeted a Coast Guards patrol using a speedboat, killing two personnel. Following that attack, authorities suspended all business activities at Kuntani port indefinitely due to security concerns.
The latest clash reflects the fragile security situation in the region, particularly around Pasni and nearby coastal areas. Workers involved in the incident were reportedly from different districts of Sindh and Balochistan and were engaged in oil-related trade across the border.
Officials have not yet released detailed information about the identities of the victims or the exact circumstances surrounding the firing. However, the situation remains tense as security forces maintain a strong presence in the area.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges in managing security, trade activities, and law enforcement in border regions where economic dependence and security concerns often intersect.
