ISLAMABAD: The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel once again, adding further pressure on consumers, transporters and businesses across Pakistan.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued a notification announcing the latest adjustment in petroleum prices. The revised rates will take effect from August 25.
According to the notification, the price of petrol has increased by 39 paisas per litre. Following the latest adjustment, petrol will now be available at Rs341.98 per litre.
The government has also increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs2.40 per litre. The new diesel price has been fixed at Rs370.69 per litre.
⛽ New Petroleum Prices
| Petroleum Product | Increase | New Price |
|---|---|---|
| Petrol | Rs0.39/litre | Rs341.98/litre |
| High-Speed Diesel | Rs2.40/litre | Rs370.69/litre |
The latest increase is expected to affect motorists, transport operators and businesses that rely heavily on petroleum products.
Petrol is widely used by private vehicle owners and motorcycle riders, while high-speed diesel is extensively used by commercial vehicles, trucks and heavy transport.
Higher fuel prices can also increase transportation and logistics costs. Businesses may face additional expenses when moving goods across the country, potentially adding to the prices of various products and services.
The latest adjustment comes at a time when consumers are already facing pressure from higher living costs. Any increase in fuel prices can add to household expenses, particularly for people who depend on private transport for their daily commute.
With the latest rates, petrol has moved closer to Rs342 per litre, while diesel has crossed the Rs370-per-litre mark.
OGRA periodically reviews petroleum prices based on relevant pricing factors before revised rates are notified by the government.
The latest notification formally puts the new petrol and diesel prices into effect from August 25, meaning motorists and transport operators will have to pay the revised rates from the effective date.
