A gas cylinder explosion in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has claimed the lives of six Pakistani nationals, leaving the Pakistani community in the Kingdom in mourning.
The explosion occurred late Tuesday night in the Manfouhah district, prompting an immediate response from emergency and rescue teams. Authorities secured the area while search and recovery operations continued following the blast.
Saudi officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the explosion and have launched a formal investigation to determine what triggered the incident. Investigators are also examining whether any safety violations or technical failures contributed to the tragedy.
According to preliminary reports, the victims were Pakistani expatriates working in Saudi Arabia. Most of them reportedly belonged to Mansehra district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Saeed, Abid Hussain, Abdul Rahman, Muhammad Safeer, and Muhammad Rustam, while the identity of the sixth victim is still being officially verified.
The Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and confirmed that it is in continuous contact with Saudi police and relevant authorities to complete all legal formalities as quickly as possible.
Embassy officials said every possible assistance is being provided to the affected families. Arrangements for the burial of the deceased in Saudi Arabia or the repatriation of their bodies to Pakistan will be made according to the wishes of the families after the necessary legal procedures are completed.
Saudi authorities continue to investigate the incident and are expected to release further details once the inquiry is concluded.
