Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is critical of Punjab because it is unable to accept the province’s rapid development under the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.
Responding to recent statements by PPP spokespersons, Bukhari stated that the Punjab government is utilizing public funds for the welfare and development of the people, which she claimed is the reason behind the opposition’s criticism. She added that development projects are being carried out across the province without discrimination.
Addressing PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bukhari urged him to avoid politics that could increase political polarization and instead focus on constructive dialogue. She also questioned why PPP leaders rarely highlight the performance of the Sindh government and suggested they should concentrate on addressing issues within their own province.
Highlighting the achievements of the Punjab government, Bukhari said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ensured that development projects benefit all regions, from Attock to Rahim Yar Khan and Rawalpindi to Vehari. According to her, the provincial administration remains committed to improving infrastructure, public services, and the quality of life across Punjab.
The minister also claimed that the PPP currently ranks fourth in terms of political support in Punjab, attributing this to the public’s confidence in the PML-N government’s performance. Referring to Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, she said Punjab welcomed his visit to learn from Lahore’s governance model and expressed hope that similar development would also take place in Sindh.
Uzma Bukhari reaffirmed that the Punjab government will continue to prioritize transparent governance and equitable development despite political criticism.
