The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has strongly opposed reported attempts to form its provincial cabinet through closed-door consultations, calling for a transparent and democratic electoral process.
In a statement issued in Quetta, a spokesperson for YDA Balochistan expressed concern over what the association described as efforts by certain groups to bypass elections and establish a cabinet based on personal preferences.
The association warned that such non-democratic practices could deepen divisions within the medical community and undermine the credibility of the organisation. It emphasised that only fair and transparent elections can produce a legitimate cabinet that truly represents doctors across the province.
According to the statement, any cabinet formed without elections would not be recognised by YDA Balochistan and would lack legitimacy. The association also criticised the role of what it termed a “self-styled consultative council,” alleging that it was attempting to influence the cabinet formation process without following democratic norms.
YDA Balochistan further stated that bypassing elections could have negative consequences not only for doctors but also for patients, as internal conflicts may affect healthcare delivery.
The association urged all members of the medical community to remain united and actively resist any attempts to impose a cabinet without a proper voting process. It stressed that equal participation and transparency are essential to ensure fair representation.
Reiterating its stance, YDA Balochistan maintained that elections are the only acceptable method for forming its provincial leadership and called for immediate steps to organise a transparent electoral process.
The development highlights ongoing tensions within the doctors’ community in the province and underscores the importance of democratic practices in professional organisations.
