Islamabad Red Zone Sealed as Iran FM Abbas Araghchi Holds Key Talks

Pakistan’s capital Islamabad has been placed under heightened security as Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived for a high-level diplomatic visit focused on regional peace and stability.

The expanded Red Zone has been sealed, with major roads closed and strict security measures in place across sensitive areas. The arrangements come amid ongoing diplomatic developments related to tensions between the United States and Iran, with Islamabad playing a key mediating role.

During his visit, Araghchi held important meetings with Ishaq Dar and Asim Munir, where discussions centered on regional security, peace efforts, and diplomatic coordination.

Earlier, initial talks between Tehran and Washington were hosted at the Serena Hotel Islamabad, highlighting Pakistan’s growing role as a diplomatic hub. Meanwhile, the United States is reportedly sending envoys to better understand Iran’s stance, reflecting ongoing international engagement.

However, Iranian officials have clearly stated that no direct meeting is planned between Iran and the US during this visit. The focus remains on bilateral discussions with Pakistan and sharing perspectives on peace initiatives.

The situation underscores Islamabad’s increasing importance in global diplomacy, even as strict security measures continue to affect daily life in the capital. Observers say the outcome of these talks could influence future negotiations and regional stability.
