The federal government has announced a slight reduction in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the next fortnight, offering modest relief to consumers across Pakistan.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs0.66 per litre, bringing the new retail price down to Rs392.38 per litre.
The government has also reduced the price of petrol by Rs0.12 per litre, lowering the new retail price to Rs336.03 per litre.
The revised fuel prices came into effect immediately after the issuance of the official notification and will remain applicable until the next scheduled petroleum price review.
Petrol is primarily used by private vehicles, motorcycles, and small transport operators, while high-speed diesel is widely consumed by heavy transport vehicles, agricultural machinery, and industrial sectors. Even small changes in fuel prices can influence transportation costs, agricultural operations, production expenses, and the prices of essential goods.
Although the latest reduction is relatively small, it offers some financial relief to motorists, businesses, and industries that depend heavily on petroleum products.
The government reviews petroleum prices every fortnight based on international crude oil prices, exchange rate fluctuations, and applicable taxes and petroleum levies. The latest adjustment reflects Pakistan’s routine fuel pricing mechanism aimed at aligning domestic prices with global market trends.
