Trees Today, Healthier Pakistan Tomorrow: President Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari has urged citizens and institutions across Pakistan to actively participate in tree plantation and environmental protection efforts, describing the protection of trees as both an environmental priority and a national responsibility.

In a message issued at the launch of the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026, President Zardari said the campaign aims to plant 20 million saplings across the country. He called on government institutions, communities and individuals to contribute to the initiative and help increase Pakistan’s tree cover.

The president highlighted the importance of forests in preserving biodiversity, protecting water resources and maintaining the natural environment. He also noted that forests can help reduce the harmful effects of climate change and strengthen the country’s resilience to environmental challenges.

President Zardari stressed that plantation efforts should go beyond seasonal campaigns. He called for continued efforts to protect existing forests, expand green cover and ensure that newly planted saplings survive and grow.

He said the trees planted today would help create a healthier environment for future generations. The president also emphasised that building a green, clean and climate-resilient Pakistan requires collective action from government institutions, communities and citizens.

The campaign comes as Pakistan continues to face challenges linked to climate change, changing weather patterns and pressure on natural resources. Greater public participation in plantation and conservation activities, according to the president, can help make the country greener and more sustainable.
