Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended warm greetings to the people of Pakistan and the Muslim world on the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1448 Hijri. He described the arrival of the new Hijri year as a moment of hope and reflection, especially as it coincides with positive developments in international diplomacy between Iran and the United States.
The prime minister stated that the recent progress in Iran–US relations represents an encouraging step toward global peace and stability. He noted that Pakistan played a constructive role in promoting dialogue and reducing tensions between the two countries. According to him, diplomacy, reconciliation, and peaceful engagement are deeply rooted in Islamic teachings and the principles of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted the significance of the Hijrah, saying it established the foundation of a society built on justice, equality, brotherhood, and collective responsibility. He emphasized that these values remain relevant in addressing today’s social and political challenges.
Referring to Muharram, the prime minister paid tribute to the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala. He said Imam Hussain’s stand against oppression continues to inspire Muslims to uphold truth, courage, patience, and righteousness.
Calling for national unity, Shehbaz Sharif urged citizens to adopt honesty, tolerance, and hard work to ensure Pakistan’s progress and stability. He prayed that the new Islamic year brings peace, prosperity, and harmony to Pakistan and the entire world.
