KARACHI: The Sindh School Education Department has announced revised operating hours for government schools across the province, introducing separate timetables for single-shift and double-shift institutions during summer and winter months.
Under the new schedule, single-shift primary schools will operate from 8:00am to 2:30pm until October 31. On Fridays, school hours will be shortened to 8:00am to 1:00pm.
For secondary and higher secondary schools, the first shift will run from 7:30am to 1:30pm during the same period.
The timetable will be adjusted from November 1 to March 31. During the winter schedule, single-shift primary schools will operate from 8:30am to 3:00pm, while the first shift of secondary and higher secondary institutions will run from 8:00am to 1:45pm.
The education department has also announced separate timings for schools operating in two shifts. Until October 31, the second shift will be held from 1:00pm to 6:00pm, Monday through Thursday.
From November 1 to March 31, second-shift schools will begin classes at 12:45pm and close at 5:45pm. Friday timings for the second shift have been fixed from 10:45am to 2:15pm.
The revised timetable is intended to provide a structured schedule for government educational institutions while taking seasonal variations into account. The separate summer and winter timings will apply to primary, secondary and higher secondary schools operating across Sindh.
Parents, students and teaching staff have been advised to follow the new schedules and plan their daily routines according to the timings applicable to their respective institutions.
The notification provides clarity for schools operating under both single- and double-shift systems and establishes fixed timings for regular weekdays as well as Fridays.
