PM Shehbaz Says US–Iran Mediation Rooted in Diplomacy and Multilateralism

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that Pakistan’s mediation efforts between the United States and Iran are firmly grounded in diplomacy and multilateralism, guided by the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Speaking on the occasion of the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful conflict resolution. He emphasized that in today’s complex global environment, diplomacy remains the only sustainable path toward regional and international peace.

Pakistan has positioned itself as a key mediator in easing tensions between Washington and Tehran, using its diplomatic ties to encourage negotiations and prevent further escalation in the region. The prime minister highlighted that these efforts are aligned with international norms and the spirit of collective global action.

Meanwhile, Ishaq Dar also stressed the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation, noting that rising global conflicts and declining trust in institutions require renewed diplomatic engagement.

He added that Pakistan, with its long history of contributions to UN peacekeeping missions, will continue to promote dialogue, foster cooperation, and support international peace initiatives.
