Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a key meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir in Islamabad as diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing US-Iran conflict gained momentum. The meeting focused on developing a framework aimed at completely ending the war and restoring regional stability.
According to Iranian state media, Araghchi returned to Islamabad after visiting Oman to convey Iran’s position on a peace framework. This marks his second meeting with Pakistan’s military leadership in a short span, highlighting Pakistan’s growing role in mediating between the United States and Iran.
During his diplomatic engagements, Araghchi also held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, France, and Qatar to discuss de-escalation strategies and regional developments. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated that Iran could initiate talks if it wished to negotiate an end to the conflict, despite canceling a planned visit of US envoys to Pakistan.
Although a ceasefire announced earlier has temporarily halted large-scale fighting, no final agreement has been reached. The conflict has significantly impacted global oil markets, trade routes, and economic stability, making ongoing diplomatic efforts crucial for long-term peace.
