Government Assures Uninterrupted Fuel Supply Amid Talks with Petrol Pump Owners

The government has assured the public that the supply of petroleum products will remain uninterrupted despite ongoing negotiations with the Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association over fuel dealers’ profit margins and pricing concerns.

According to sources in the Petroleum Division, the government remains committed to maintaining a transparent and fair petroleum pricing mechanism while engaging with all stakeholders to reach a mutually acceptable solution. Officials emphasized that ensuring a stable fuel supply across the country remains the top priority.

Federal Minister for Petroleum recently met with representatives of the Petrol Pump Owners Association to discuss their demands. During the meeting, the minister listened to the concerns of fuel dealers and assured them that the government is willing to review dealer profit margins as part of the consultation process.

However, the discussions ended without a final agreement after the association’s representatives reportedly walked out before the meeting concluded. Despite the setback, the Petroleum Division stated that the government remains open to continued dialogue and constructive proposals from industry stakeholders.

Officials reiterated that any decision regarding fuel prices or dealer commissions will be taken in the broader public interest, balancing the concerns of fuel retailers with the need to protect consumers. The government also expressed hope that future negotiations would help resolve the outstanding issues without disrupting petroleum supplies.
