Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has confirmed that security forces killed five militants during two intelligence-based operations conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 7 and 8.
According to the official statement, one operation took place in Tank district after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants in the area. Security forces engaged the suspected location, leading to an intense exchange of fire in which four militants were killed.
In a separate operation in Dera Ismail Khan, one more militant was killed during a gun battle with security personnel.
The ISPR stated that arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were reportedly involved in various militant activities in the region.
Following the operations, a sanitisation process was launched to ensure the area is cleared of any remaining threats. Authorities emphasized that such actions are part of an ongoing counterterrorism campaign aimed at eliminating militancy from the country.
These developments come amid a rise in security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where incidents of militant activity and cross-border tensions have increased in recent years.
Security officials reiterated their commitment to continuing intelligence-based operations and ensuring the safety and stability of affected regions.
