Railway operations from Quetta have been suspended until further notice, disrupting travel across multiple key routes in the country.
According to officials, the Jaffar Express, which was scheduled to depart for Peshawar, could not leave as planned. Additionally, the incoming Jaffar Express heading to Quetta was turned back from Jacobabad.
Authorities also confirmed that the Bolan Mail service from Quetta to Karachi had already been suspended. Meanwhile, train operations between Quetta and Chaman remain halted.
Officials described the disruption as being due to “unavoidable reasons” but did not provide further details regarding the exact cause or duration of the suspension.
The latest development reflects ongoing challenges faced by railway services in Balochistan. Over the past two years, train operations in the region have been repeatedly disrupted due to security concerns, including attacks on railway infrastructure, sabotage of tracks, and ongoing security operations in remote areas.
These interruptions have made rail connectivity in the province increasingly unreliable, affecting passengers traveling between Quetta and major cities across Pakistan.
With no timeline announced for the restoration of services, passengers planning to travel to destinations such as Peshawar, Karachi, and Chaman remain uncertain about alternative arrangements.
The suspension highlights the need for improved security and infrastructure measures to ensure consistent and safe railway operations in the region.
