ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially declared May 10 as Marka-e-Haq Day, marking the first anniversary of what he described as a historic victory by Pakistan’s armed forces during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos (2025).
Addressing a ceremony at the Pakistan Monument, the premier paid tribute to the leadership of Asim Munir, praising his strategic command and courage during the conflict. He stated that Pakistan’s forces demonstrated unmatched bravery, unity, and professionalism in defending the country against external aggression.
The prime minister said that despite provocations, Pakistan exercised restraint but responded decisively when required. He highlighted the role of the Pakistan Air Force in securing the skies and successfully countering enemy threats, calling it a defining moment in the nation’s military history.
Sharif also acknowledged the contributions of the Pakistan Navy for safeguarding maritime borders and maintaining strong operational readiness throughout the conflict. He added that the success of the operation strengthened Pakistan’s position globally as a responsible and capable state.
During the ceremony, national leaders honoured martyrs and praised the unity shown by citizens across the country. Events, rallies, and commemorations were held nationwide, reflecting strong public support for the armed forces.
President Asif Ali Zardari also addressed the gathering, describing Marka-e-Haq as a crucial chapter in Pakistan’s history. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace while emphasizing its ability to defend sovereignty against any threat.
The government reaffirmed its continued diplomatic support for the people of Kashmir and Palestine, highlighting Pakistan’s stance on human rights and regional stability.
Marka-e-Haq Day will now be observed annually to honour the sacrifices of the armed forces and to promote national unity, resilience, and patriotism across the country.
